What is a Minority Business Entity (MBE)?
A Minority Business Entity — or MBE — is simply a company that is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by one or more individuals from a recognized minority group. To earn the certification, the business has to prove ownership, document its leadership structure, and pass a formal review by a certifying agency.
In everyday terms: it confirms that a real minority owner is running the business, not just listed on paper. It does not lower standards, change pricing, or guarantee any work — the company still has to compete on quality, experience, and price like everyone else.
